This English Year..

The English program was a strategy implemented by the faculty’s deans, for us to learn English. As a plan, sounds good to learn this language. But... why English and not Japanese, for example? Why not Chinese? They have said that this was because English is the most used language in the world, but Japanese and Chinese are used too. Well, this is just an introduction. This just something that comes to my head while I’m writing, so it is just something I should refer. The fact is that we learn English. Not Japanese. Not Chinese. English.

This year, at the English program, I’ve learned a lot of things. First of all, I had this amazing teacher, Miss Zagal. This teacher was very good at teaching, and I liked her a lot because she was nice even when she was mad about us, and was kind even when we were lazy. Sort of. Sometimes, she shouted us loudly because we were lazy or we were slackers. She was also very demanding, because she expected a lot of things from us, even when she knew we were busy at other things or other subjects. She was a great teacher because, also, she understood that creativity and imagination are more important than structured things, and jokes were more important than seriousness.

The second semester, Second of all, I had another amazing teacher called... well, I don’t remember (yes, I remember, but if I put this into paper, he will bother me, jaja). He, like Miss Zagal, was a kind person who had an incredible working’s methodology, and an incredible disposition to understand the needs of the students. This teacher, was also a good person, because even when we were out of the class he showed to be an incredible human being and an amazing and funny guy.

Coming back to teaching, this professor I’m talking about demonstrated that he was a good leader, because he taught us how to learn without a regular class, by just talking and joking and learning from the experience of talking. That was fun, and was good, because he didn´t reduced the English class to the blog or the grammar, but he used all he could, even music, to teach us.

In conclusion, this have been and intense English year, because I´ve learned a lot of things and I have met two of the best English teachers. I don´t know I if will pass the subject, but I do know this: I have benn happy in this year of English, I think, actually, that I have learned a lot.

Things I like to do

The activities I enjoy the most when I have some free time are writing, drawing and listening music. Drawing is sometime I don’t do very often, because it is something that just comes to my head in specific moments. Drawing it is something intimate that I prefer to do alone on home, although I can do it anywhere if I want. It is something that slowly has been fading away, because every time it is harder to concentrate myself into it.

Listening music it’s an activity that I can do anywhere. Also, it is important because it is something that is really relaxing, and it is something that I really enjoy. I listen music specially at night, when everyone at home is sleeping. I use it to think, and, also, to write. When I write, I try to imagine myself living situations with that music as a background. Usually, that music it important, and reflects a lot of emotions.

Writing it is, finally, the most important thing that I like to do in my free time. It is the most intimate thing I have, and it is the most important activity I ever have done.

To me, writing is like a therapy. This is because when I write I can push away distractions and problems, to focus in just one story, in just one romance. I usually write about romance and love. The characters are almost any time men, but sometimes are women too.

Also, writing make me feel good. It is more than just writing, it is like a very intimate relationship with myself and something that I usually do in order to connect ideas, feelings, unconscious thoughts.

Writing, reminds me that sometimes it is easy to feel that you are the only one in the world that it is fighting, that is frustrated or unsatisfied. It reminds me that this feeling is a lie. That, if you hold on, if you find bravery to stand another day, something or someone will find you and will do that things get better. It reminds me that everyone needs a few help sometimes; someone that helps us to listen to the music in the world.

In summary, writing gives me hope. And this hope is what leads me to live life, to live every moment. This hope, is the hope that keeps me alive.

That's for this week. See you!

Music!

I like music. I think music is a funny and deep way to feel and shows emotions. I listen music to think and feel when I feel bad, when I feel terrible. And I think music even when I feel good, to bother everybody else and to party.

I listen to music almost five or six hours per day, because I use to listen it when I do other things like writing or working. And that’s really important to me, because music remind me things and makes me feel like other times.

Also, I think music is good for health, because it has been proved that music played to little children makes their neurons to grow stronger and faster than children that never listen to music. It is also proved that people who listen to music when they are working, produce more money than people who do their work without music.

I would like to talk about certain singer that I like. In the first place, there is Norah Jones. She is my favorite. Nora Jones is an American singer and songwriter, pianist, keyboardist, guitarist, and actress of Anglo-American and Indian-Bengali descent. She is the daughter of the guitarist Ravi Shankar. She debuted with her album “Come Away With Me” in 2002, that received five Grammys in one night. That album was followed by “Feels Like home”, released in 2004.

I like Nora Jones because she plays and sings with her heart, and her rhythms are based in soul and jazz, and sometimes even nice pop.

If you want to like her music, you can do it in http://mipagina.cl/radio/fm-dos.htm. If you wait a little, you would sing her in every station of the country.

Listen to her!

What to do and where to go in Santiago

What to do and where to go in Santiago

This week, I will talk about what to do and where to go in Santiago. First of all, if you are a foreigner, you must go to Parque Arauco. Parque Arauco is a mall where you can find a lot of entertaining things, like eating (there it is a Mc’Donnals, Burger King, Pizza Hut, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Domino’s Pizza, Shop Dog, Domino, Doggis, Lomiton, etc), for example. Also, there it is a Cinemark, where you can watch movies and enjoy a good bag of popcorn. Parque Arauco also has a boulevard, where people enjoy good music, entertainment like an ice court and other things. There, you can enjoy a good coffee and read a good book in the same place.
The second choice would be Parque Araucano, where people can play a lot of sports and enjoy a nice time with family or friends. There it is a basketball court where boys (and even girls) play a lot, and also a soccer court.
The third and fourth choices would be Apumanque and Alto Las Condes. That places are like Parque ARauco, but the people who goes is different. In one place, Apumanque, there is more poor people. In Alto Las Condes, it is high school musical people.
The Fifth place, would be my house. Every foreigner should go there, because there is the most handsome and fun and intelligent person in the city. Me.

Bye!

The Last Movie I Saw

The last film I saw was “Ice Age 3”. That movie was about a herd of prehistorical animals that pass through a lot of adventures, in order to keep the “family”. The main actors are: Scrat, the squirrel who wants to be (whatever that means) with his acorn; Manfred (also called Manny), the giant mammoth who seems to be the leader of the herd; Ellie, the other mammoth and Manny’s wife; Diego, an expert tiger with enormous fangs; and Sid, a particular and vegetarian sloth. The plot is about how this herd has to face with an almost extinguished Tyrannosaurus Rex, in order to save Sid. The movie was funny because it was a comedy, so it had jokes. I went to the cinema, in that opportunity, with a friend, so I actually went to see the movie. We spend a very good time, because we also talked a lot about life. Oh! By the way, I also learned in that opportunity what an amazing girl was my friend, she paid for the popcorn! Despite this, I was to La Reina’s Cinehoyts, next to Simon Bolivar’s Subway. I recommend the whole experience because it was very funny, so go to that cinema and enjoy one of the more famous movies for children ever!

A Country I would Like to Visit

This time I will talk about a country I would like to visit. I think I would like to visit many places. For example, I would like to visit Spain, because it has a long history and it is related with our own history. I think I know a few things about it. Also, I think Spain has a lot of things to see, like San Fermin or Pamplona. In San Fermin, it would be awesome to be when people shoot tomatoes everywhere, when everything in town becomes red and orange. It would be great to visit the city. Also, Spain has a lot of history related to universities and educational organizations, like Barcelona’s University, that is famous for the quality of the people who studies there. Madrid-s organizations are famous around the world, like the main office of the UNICEF, an organization that helps children from every country and teaches them how to survive in the actual world. And that-s just a little review.
Maybe it would not be so easy to live there, because I have no family and no friends there. It would be like a second beginning, like to reborn. But I really would like to go studying there, because, like I said before, Spain has a lot of prestigious universities and organizations. I think I would try going there someday.
Well, that-s all for today. See you next week!

The First Term

The last term, I studied and I learned a lot of things. First of all, in Psychopathology’s classes my classmates and I have examined patients, trying to identify distinct mental disorders in order to diagnose them. It was really great because it was our first opportunity to see them, and our first approach to what the career is really about. But that was just one subject. Another one was the subject called Psychology of the Development. There, I learned a lot of concepts about education, and a different way to conceptualize it. According to the teacher, education could be defined as a complex relationship between cultural evolution, learning, instruction and individual development. It would be necessary an entire term to explain that, but in summary was that. Nevertheless, I have learned a lot of others things. For example, last term I studied social psychology, neurophysiology and statistics.
If I have to write about sports or free time activities, it would be necessary to mention that I am not that much into sports, but I like reading and writing. The last term I read a few books about motivation and cognitive abilities. Also I read some books wrote by Ray Bradbury.
That’s it.
